FromSoftware has announced that the much-loved message feature, a staple in their games, will be absent from Elden Ring: Nightreign. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this surprising decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, Ishizaki stated there simply isn't enough time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
This marks a departure from FromSoftware's tradition of incorporating player messages, a feature often praised for enhancing the shared experience and interactivity. However, the development team felt the functionality wasn't suitable for the design of Nightreign.
To preserve the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign will offer a separate adventure. While retaining the familiar atmosphere and intricate world design, it will feature unique challenges and encounters.
