Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the post-launch roadmap for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd. This detailed plan outlines continuous updates, starting on day one. Here's what players can expect.
Concord's Content Roadmap: Beyond Launch Day
No Battle Pass Required
Concord, releasing August 23rd for PS5 and PC, will forgo the traditional battle pass model. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding core experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character progression, and objective completion. This differs from many hero shooters that rely on battle passes for monetization and content delivery.
Season 1: The Tempest – October 2024
#### New Freegunner and Map
Concord's first season, "The Tempest," arrives in October, bringing a new playable Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional character variants, and new cosmetic rewards. Weekly cinematic vignettes will enrich the lore surrounding the Northstar crew.
In-Game Store Debuts
Season 1 also introduces a cosmetic in-game store. These optional purchases will not affect gameplay balance.
Season 2 – January 2025 and Beyond
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, with Firewalk Studios promising consistent seasonal content throughout Concord's first year.
Optimal Gameplay Strategies
Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for team customization with five unique Freegunners, allowing up to three copies of any variant. This encourages diverse team compositions for strategic advantages. Unlike typical "Tank" or "Support" roles, each Freegunner is designed for high damage output and effectiveness in direct combat. Six roles – Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden – offer diverse tactical options, impacting the match through area control, advantageous positioning, and flanking maneuvers. Combining different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon handling, and cooldown times.
