Hazelight Studios' Josef Fares recently revealed key details about their upcoming title, Split Fiction, during an interview with MinnMax. Reiterating previous statements, Fares stressed Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a traditional development model, eschewing live-service elements and microtransactions. The studio has no plans for an IPO or acquisition:
"We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
The core narrative of Split Fiction is estimated to take 12-14 hours to complete, comparable to the playtime of It Takes Two. With optional missions and extra content, the total playtime could reach 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is known for its cooperative games, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player projects. He confirmed that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, but the studio is foregoing post-launch DLC; all content will be available at launch. Split Fiction will be released worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
