Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P's director, Choi Ji-Won, has expressed a renewed sense of inspiration following his experience with Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. In an interview at the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared his enthusiasm with Eurogamer about the evolving Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware's creations is evident in Lies of P's design.
Choi commented on the upcoming Elden Ring game, stating, "I've tried [Nightreign], and it was very refreshing and new. It's clear that they're pushing boundaries, exploring new visions, and that motivates me to enhance the Overture experience to its fullest potential."
He further indicated his openness to exploring new game formats, saying, "For our future projects, we're definitely open to considering all sorts of possibilities, including multiplayer games."
Despite his appreciation for FromSoftware's work, Choi emphasized that his inspirations are diverse. In a conversation with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he explained, "My passion spans across numerous game genres, and I draw inspiration from a wide variety of experiences. I blend these influences to create a unique Lies of P experience, tailored for our dedicated fanbase."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi revealed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players 15-20 hours to complete. This expansion packs a punch with numerous bosses and content that the developers had originally envisioned for the game's launch. He described the development process, saying, "Overture isn't just an add-on; it's deeply connected to the base game, and creating it felt like completing the Lies of P journey, which was both challenging and rewarding."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the haunting final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. It incorporates fresh ideas, player feedback, and concepts that couldn't make it into the initial release due to time and development constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director's Cut, enhancing the game to feel like its final chapter.
He acknowledged the community's support post-launch, stating, "We prioritized quality for the base game, which meant we couldn't include everything at once. The positive feedback and support we received encouraged us to deliver all our envisioned content in this expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not connect directly to the final cutscene of the base game. While the game's ending provided a glimpse into potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi assured that the DLC explores different narrative paths.
Choi confirmed a sequel to Lies of P in a November 2023 Director’s Letter, hinting at a possible connection to the final cutscene. However, details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce. He reassured fans, saying, "When we're ready to share news or assets, you'll know it's because we're confident in the quality we're delivering, despite any pressures we've faced in the past."
Choi encouraged fans to revisit the base game, as it contains numerous hints about the upcoming DLC. He also mentioned being impressed by some fan theories online, noting their accuracy.
