An innovative cyberpunk city walkthrough, powered by Unreal Engine 5.5.3, has been released. Created by artist Sciontidesign, this tech demo draws inspiration from the Samaritan UE3 demo, Blade Runner, and the visual style of Cyberpunk 2077. Showcased on high-end hardware (NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU, 32GB DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz), the demo impressively utilizes dynamic lighting, Nanite with Distance Field Meshes, Ambient Occlusion, and Screen Space Reflections. Intriguingly, it omits advanced features like Lumen, Path Tracing, RTX, DLSS, and baked lighting, demonstrating UE5's capabilities even without its most sophisticated tools.
The rendering of wet surfaces is particularly detailed, adding depth to the futuristic cityscape, though the rain effect itself feels somewhat artificial. Unfortunately, the demo is hampered by frequent invisible walls, disrupting immersion. While Unreal Engine 5 consistently delivers visually stunning tech demos, real-world game implementations often face performance challenges.
