Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, much to the relief of fans who were initially concerned. This update comes after IGN reported last week that a disclaimer on the game's page suggested otherwise.
Originally, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Tears of the Kingdom had a disclaimer stating, "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature." However, Nintendo has since revised this information on their website.
While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, the updated disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom now reads: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This clarification indicates that players will be able to transfer their saves from the original Switch to the Switch 2, but not vice versa, as noted by Eurogamer.
The same message has been added to the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, suggesting a consistent approach to save transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 went live overnight, maintaining a price of $449.99. As expected, the demand was high. For more details, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
