EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with a delightful surprise for fans. Both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are now available on PC once again, thanks to the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. These collections, along with The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, are now accessible to gamers eager to revisit the classics.
EA has made The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection available today on PC. You can purchase them separately or opt for the combined The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.
Each game in these collections comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. However, both collections offer additional bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 features the Grunge Revival Kit alongside its other add-ons.
EA's decision to re-release these beloved titles marks the first time in over a decade that both games have been easily accessible. The Sims 1 was originally only available on disc, making it challenging for modern players to enjoy without tracking down a physical copy and ensuring it's compatible with today's Windows systems. The Sims 2 was more recently available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that was discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are readily available for purchase and play through digital storefronts.Upon their initial release, we rated The Sims 1 with a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 with an 8.5/10. Despite the advancements and improvements in the series over the years, the original games retain their charm, simplicity, and unique challenges, making them a must-try for both new and returning players.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
