Metal Gear's iconic voice actor, David Hayter, who lends his voice to both Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's greeting on his Bluesky account, highlighting that 2025 is the Year of the Snake. With a new game on the horizon, it seems like 2025 could be a landmark year for the character. Hayter is set to return as Solid Snake in the eagerly awaited remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
The alignment of 2025 as the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac and the planned release year for the latest installment is a remarkable coincidence. Konami celebrated this synchronicity with a captivating video on their official YouTube channel titled "New Year’s Greetings." The video features three Taiko drummers performing energetically alongside a calligraphy artist who skillfully writes the kanji for "snake." It concludes with "SNAKE YEAR" in bold capitals, emphasizing that 2025 is not only the year of the Chinese zodiac's Snake but also a significant year for Solid Snake.
Since its announcement in May 2024, followed by a trailer and a demo at the Tokyo Game Show, there have been no further updates on Metal Gear Solid Delta until now. However, in a recent interview with the Japanese gaming news site 4Gamer, Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Noriaki Okamura shared that one of their primary objectives for 2025, and indeed one of their greatest challenges, is to deliver a game that is both highly polished and of exceptional quality.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This remake of the 2004 classic, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, promises next-generation enhancements and modifications, including the integration of Phantom Pain mechanics, fresh voice-overs, and additional lines from the original voice cast.
