The developers of the upcoming life simulation game, inZOI, recently addressed fan questions, notably one regarding the depiction of intimate relationships. The assistant director's response, while avoiding explicit language, left players uncertain about the game's mechanics. Essentially, the implication is that romantic interactions between ZOI characters can lead to procreation, but the visual representation is left to the player's interpretation. The statement suggested the developers are aiming for a nuanced approach, differing from expectations.
The level of explicit content remains unclear, leaving open the question of whether inZOI will employ censorship similar to The Sims series or adopt a novel approach.
The developers also explained the choice to depict ZOI characters showering in towels instead of using pixelated censorship. They cited two key reasons: a more cartoonish art style is better suited to this approach, while pixelation in a realistic style can appear overly sexualized. Furthermore, a technical issue with the pixelation not appearing correctly in reflections was encountered.
Ultimately, the game's rating offers the clearest indication of its content. The ESRB T (Teen) rating and the anticipated PEGI 12 rating align with The Sims 4, suggesting a similar level of mature themes.
