After two eagerly awaited launches, *Rune Slayer* has finally hit the scene, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're a seasoned MMORPG player or new to the genre, diving into *Rune Slayer* can be both thrilling and daunting. But don't worry, we've put together a comprehensive guide to help you embark on your adventure in *Rune Slayer* with confidence.
Rune Slayer Beginner Tips
Here are some key insights that would have made our initial journey much smoother:
Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players
When *Rune Slayer* announced its full-loot PvP system, we braced ourselves for chaos. However, our fears were largely unfounded. **In *Rune Slayer*, you don't lose anything upon death**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your journey.
However, **attacking other players incurs a bounty**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty becomes, and consequently, the more items you'll drop upon your next death. So, the only way to engage in full-loot PvP is by initiating attacks on others, which could lead to your eventual downfall.
Our advice? **Refrain from attacking other players** unless you have a compelling reason or a group of friends to support you in your ganking endeavors.
Craft Bags ASAP
You'll quickly realize that both your **bank and inventory spaces** are quite limited. Carrying 50 items might sound ample, but it fills up faster than you'd expect. To mitigate this, **the game allows you to craft bags**. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, and the first one you can craft is a **Cotton Bag**.
To craft a Cotton Bag, **gather Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south** (though be cautious of mobs in the southern region). Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so make crafting these a priority.
Your Pets Don't Actually Die
There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die when their health reaches zero. This is not the case. **When a pet "dies", it's simply unavailable for summoning for 5 minutes**. You can check this cooldown by holding T. Once the time is up, hold T again to summon your pet back into action.
Bonus Tip: To **quickly heal your pet**, simply store and unstore it at the stable master, utilizing your one free slot.
Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)
*Rune Slayer* is packed with quests, many of which are non-repeatable and somewhat forgettable. They often follow the familiar "Kill 10 X" format seen in many MMORPGs, and you might not pay much attention to them.
To manage this efficiently, **accept every quest you encounter**. Don't hesitate to take everything from the Job board as well. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is much more manageable than tackling them one by one. You might even find yourself completing multiple quests unknowingly, as we did on our return to Wayshire.
Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don't Need)
While it's essential to craft what you need, don't overlook the opportunity to experiment with your spare materials. **Crafting items for the first time often unlocks new, more powerful crafting recipes**. For instance, smelting our first Iron Ore unlocked a variety of new Iron Armor crafts. So, be liberal with your materials and explore all crafting possibilities.
Join a Guild
Although *Rune Slayer* is solo-friendly, you'll encounter **tougher enemies** as you progress. Many of these, particularly those with significant health bars, are designed for group combat. The simplest way to find a group is by **joining a guild**.
You can either announce your need for a guild in the general chat or seek one out through the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server. Teaming up with others will make tackling the game's bigger challenges much easier.
And that's it! Enjoy your time in *Rune Slayer*. If you're yet to start, be sure to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community engagement.
