Marvel Rivals has just announced its exciting Spring Festival event, set to kick off this Thursday. Players can look forward to snagging a free Star-Lord costume and diving into a unique game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. In this mode, teams of three will battle it out to score a ball into the opponents' goal, reminiscent of Rocket League's fast-paced action.
While many might draw parallels between Clash of Dancing Lions and Rocket League, a closer look reveals it's more akin to Lucioball, the inaugural special game mode from Overwatch, which itself drew inspiration from Rocket League. This comparison is particularly intriguing because Marvel Rivals appears to be outshining Overwatch currently. To establish its unique identity and distance itself from Blizzard's game, Marvel Rivals needs to introduce fresh content. Yet, its first major event features a mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's debut event. The key difference lies in the thematic approach: Overwatch embraced an Olympic Games vibe, while Marvel Rivals infuses strong Chinese cultural elements into its event.
