Pokémon TCG Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new standard for the longest Pokémon TCG unboxing livestream. This remarkable feat involved opening over 20,000 cards in a non-stop 24-hour marathon, broadcast live on Twitch.
A Record-Breaking Livestream
On November 26th, 2024, popular internet personalities, including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, teamed up with The Pokémon Company to celebrate the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion. For over 24 hours, they opened a staggering 1,500 booster packs and various other Pokémon products, culminating in a count exceeding 20,000 individual cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement about this achievement, stating, “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The event isn't over yet! The Pokémon Company promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The massive collection of cards will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.
Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks: A New Era in Pokémon TCG
Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the central location of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively potent Archaludon ex.
Iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also make appearances. Collectors can also find Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, evoking a serene beach atmosphere. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting new options for players' decks.
The expansion is also available digitally through the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
