Team Ninja's substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black (version 1.0.7.0) introduces highly anticipated features and significant improvements. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam & Microsoft Store), this patch delivers on promises made in January to address player feedback.
Key additions include New Game Plus, allowing players to restart with previously acquired weapons and Ninpo (reset to level 1), though difficulty level cannot be immediately increased. A much-requested Photo Mode lets players capture in-game moments. Furthermore, players can now toggle the visibility of their projectile weapon via the Options > Game Settings menu.
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage boost to some of Ayane's attacks.
The patch also addresses numerous bugs, resolving control issues at high frame rates or under heavy computing loads, controller vibration inconsistencies, out-of-bounds glitches in specific chapters, progression-blocking bugs, and crashes after extended play sessions. Minor bug fixes are also included. See the full patch notes below for details.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, initially released as a surprise during the January Xbox Developer Direct, is a remastered version leveraging Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN's 8/10 review praised its visual upgrades over Sigma 2, while noting some balance adjustments.
