NieR: Automata's opening introduces players to 2B's mission. After deploying and engaging in initial melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This early-game weapon is located near your starting point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To the left, locate the highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This route leads back towards the factory.
Descend to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. On the left, find another access point with stairs leading upwards. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge where you fought the Goliath enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.
Your previous body, containing your prologue consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata
- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
This two-handed sword, typical of its type, delivers wide-sweeping attacks, inflicting significant damage on multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can potentially make this one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. Combining it with a faster weapon via a heavy attack during a combo mitigates the slow speed while still leveraging its high damage output. While a full combo isn't achievable this way, the added burst damage compensates.
