How to Initiate the Hermit Quest

The Hermit quest automatically unlocks upon completing tasks for Radovan, the blacksmith, in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After recovering the lost cart, return to Radovan. He'll then request a custom-forged sword as a wedding gift, thus initiating the Hermit questline. Before interacting with the hermit, however, you must gather information from Troskowitz villagers.

Gathering Information on the Hermit

Begin at the Troskowitz tavern. Speak with Innkeeper Betty, exhausting all dialogue options. Then, interview other villagers (the alehouse maid and trader are good starting points) to gather additional details.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, converse with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. Either pay her a small sum or succeed in a dialogue check to obtain the necessary information.

Afterwards, travel to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav. Again, a dialogue check or a small payment will yield the information you need.

Acquiring Evidence

With the information gathered, locate the cross Gerda mentioned. Dig up the grave (you'll need a spade – purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery) to uncover Groschen and documents related to the Knights of the Cross.

Examine the documents. Then, proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia to find a hut and a black horse. Inspect the horse for further clues.

Confronting the Hermit

Approach the hermit's hut and initiate conversation. Note: Without sufficient evidence, the hermit will be uncooperative. With the gathered clues, he'll become more forthcoming.

Choose these dialogue options:

• "You're suspicious." Exhaust all dialogue options about the evidence.
• "Out with it!"

The hermit will reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before handing over the sword, he tasks you with delivering a cross to a widow named Margaret.

Visit the cemetery near Apollonia, speak with Margaret, and give her the cross. This starts the Sinful Soul quest (optional; you can return to Konrad immediately).

Assisting or Eliminating Konrad

Returning to the hermit's hut, you'll encounter Crusaders. You can choose to aid the Crusaders in killing Konrad or help Konrad escape. If you choose to help Konrad, sneak to his hut; he'll speak with you. Tell him you've completed the task and ask about the sword. You can then choose to aid or kill him.

After killing Konrad, speak with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for payment.

Obtaining the Hermit's Sword

Locate the two entangled oak trees north of the hut. The hermit's sword is embedded in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest. Consult The Escapist for additional game tips and strategies.
