Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail's Patch 7.0 Preview: New Jobs, Graphics, and More!
With Dawntrail's early access launch imminent, Square Enix has unveiled preliminary patch notes for version 7.0, revealing a substantial update for Final Fantasy XIV. The notes highlight the addition of two new jobs—the Viper and Pictomancer—and detail where players can begin their respective job quests. They also showcase numerous system changes and the game's first major graphical overhaul since A Realm Reborn.
Dawntrail, the fifth expansion, marks the beginning of a new saga following Endwalker. The Warrior of Light ventures to the western continent of Tural, embroiled in a succession rite to determine its next ruler. Players will ally with the young Hrothgar Wuk Lamat, one of the four candidates for Dawnservant. Square Enix has urged players to be mindful of story spoilers on social media.
While details on the main storyline remain scarce, the preliminary notes tease the upcoming Arcadion raid series and Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon, slated for future updates. A level 1 quest rewarding a free Fantasia potion will be available in Ul'dah—Steps of Thal (X:13.4, Y:9.2). The locations for Dawntrail role quests are also listed (requiring main story progression). Specifically, the Viper job quest starts with a Worried Weaver in Ul'dah—Steps of Nald (X:9.3, Y:9.2), and the Pictomancer quest begins with a Cheerless Hearer in Old Gridania (X:8.0, Y:10.3).
Key Highlights from Patch 7.0:
- New Arcadion raid and Cenote Ja Ja Gural treasure dungeon (future updates).
- Level 1 Fantasia potion quest in Ul'dah.
- Viper and Pictomancer job quest locations revealed, along with Dawntrail role quests.
- New craftable items, including housing exteriors and furnishings.
- Enhanced graphics with AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS support, and in-game framerate capping.
To mitigate server congestion during early access, data center travel restrictions will be in place for two to four weeks. With Dawntrail's release just days away, players are poised for countless hours of new content. The race is on to see who conquers the expansion's main story first!
