World of Warcraft's Festive Feast: A Lore-Filled Winter Veil Celebration

World of Warcraft (WoW) and PlatinumWoW have collaborated on a captivating lore video unveiling the rich history behind the in-game Feast of Winter Veil, WoW's Christmas equivalent. The video explores the holiday's origins, from its in-game beginnings to the infamous Metzen the Reindeer's repeated kidnappings.

The annual Winter Veil event in WoW features unique rewards and activities, frequently introducing new collectables. This year's lore video delves into the holiday's diverse roots: the dwarven myth of Greatfather Winter, a Titan-forged giant leaving snowy trails; Tauren traditions emphasizing spiritual reflection, renewal, and gratitude to the Earthmother; and the modern-day commercialization by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures.

The video wouldn't be complete without mentioning the recurring tale of Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Blizzard executive Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has been kidnapped three times: by pirates and Dark Iron dwarves in Classic WoW, and later by the Grinch in the current version. The humorous conclusion features Metzen expressing gratitude in Thrall's voice, a fitting tribute given Chris Metzen's voice acting for the Orc Shaman.

This marks another successful collaboration between WoW and PlatinumWoW, following previous lore videos covering Nerubians, Vrykul, the Scourge, World Trees, Blackrock Depths, and events like Season of Discovery and Plunderstorm. Blizzard's recent partnerships with content creators, including Taliesin & Evitel and Hurricane, have enriched the WoW experience for players.

Players can continue to enjoy the Feast of Winter Veil until January 5th, 2024. This year's highlights include a tamable Dreaming Festive Reindeer for Hunters, new holiday transmogs, and the Grunch pet. Don't forget to check for a special gift under the tree in Orgrimmar or Stormwind after the real-world holidays conclude, echoing last year's surprise: the Junior Timekeeper's Racing Belt toy.
