Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s First Public Test Server Goes Live, Update 7.0 Patch Notes Reveal Huge Changes

Author : Aria Update:Apr 14,2025

The eagerly awaited first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering an exciting early preview of the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. In a recent community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive shared that these preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encapsulate "most" of the features coming with the 7.0 update. However, they caution that the final patch notes might differ, as the team is diligently working on finalizing bug fixes.

Exclusively available for PC players in the PTS (console players will have to wait), Update 7.0 introduces a host of new content and features. This includes a brand-new PvE mission named "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol—available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, endgame-focused prestige ranks in PvE, and the addition of private PvP lobbies.

For fans of customization, Update 7.0 brings exciting new options such as fresh colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, Bulwark cloth recoloring, hands recoloring, and a 50% increase in customization rewards in PvP. Additionally, the PTS version introduces the Imperial Fists Champion skin for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

Significant balance changes are also part of this update, with an extended weapon arsenal in PvE that allows all classes to enjoy a broader selection of weapons. A notable change is that the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without needing mods. Players should review the detailed patch notes to stay informed about the various tweaks to the game's weapons.

An important quality-of-life improvement addresses the griefing issue in the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, the other players will be automatically teleported there after a brief delay, receiving a notification 1:30 before the teleportation and being moved 15 seconds later. This change aims to prevent players from lingering outside the assembly area and blocking progress for others.

For those interested in the detailed patch notes, here's a summary of the new features, balancing adjustments, and bug fixes:

New Features:

  • New PvE mission: Exfiltration
  • New Secondary Weapon (PvP & PvE): Inferno Pistol for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes
  • Prestige ranks in PvE
  • PvP Private lobbies
  • Customization: New colors, Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring, increased PvP customization rewards

Balancing:

  • Extended Weapon arsenal in PvE for all classes
  • Specific weapon changes including reworks for Heavy Bolt Rifle versions, added maximum cap to restore fade HP per action for certain weapons, and updated weapon perks

Operations:

  • Obelisk: New voiceovers for clearer objectives
  • Inferno: Forced teleportation to assembly area to prevent griefing

Bug Fixes:

  • Occulus Bolt Carbine: Fixed spread bug
  • Multi-Melta: Corrected rate-of-fire issues
  • Sniper Class: Fixed perk stacking and typos
  • Tactical and Heavy Classes: Fixed incorrect perk bonuses
  • Trials: Fixed unintentional health regeneration
  • Other: Fixed notification sound for special enemy spawns

This update promises to enhance the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 experience significantly, offering new challenges, customization options, and improved gameplay dynamics. Players are encouraged to dive into the PTS and provide feedback to help shape the final version of Update 7.0.
