If you've chosen to play as a Rogue in *Baldur's Gate 3*, you've made an excellent decision. These cunning and stealthy characters are incredibly effective in the game, capable of dealing substantial damage. Let's explore the top feats that can elevate your Rogue's performance in *BG3*.
Top 10 Feats for the Rogue in BG3
Here are the eight best Rogue feats in BG3:
- Sharpshooter
- Skilled
- Athlete
- Tough
- Mobile
- Alert
- Dungeon Delver
- Crossbow Expert
- Lucky
- Savage Attacker
Sharpshooter
Sharpshooter is a game-changing feat for Rogues who prefer to engage from a distance. This feat allows you to ignore cover, extend your attack range, and increase the damage of your attacks by 10 in exchange for a -5 penalty to hit. With Sharpshooter, your Rogue can become a lethal sniper, hitting targets with deadly accuracy and increased power, making it a top choice for maximizing ranged combat effectiveness.
Skilled
The Skilled feat offers exceptional versatility for Rogues, granting proficiency in any combination of three skills or tools. Whether you want to excel in stealth, acrobatics, and sleight of hand, or become the party's locksmith, tracker, and appraiser, this feat allows you to tailor your Rogue's abilities to fit your preferred playstyle. Skilled enhances your Rogue's adaptability and expertise, making them invaluable in various situations.
Athlete
The Athlete feat enhances a Rogue's agility and finesse. It removes the extra movement cost for climbing and getting up from prone and allows running jumps with only a 5-foot run-up. These improvements make your Rogue more efficient in navigating terrain, dodging traps, and leaping across obstacles, ensuring they can perform with grace and speed in any situation. You also get a +1 to Strength or Dexterity.
Tough
While most Rogues will prefer to avoid getting hit, it's challenging to stay unscathed in Baldur's Gate 3. No matter how sneaky you are, you're bound to eventually fail a roll or get caught in a large area of effect. Given the high damage output of Rogues, ensuring their survival is crucial for winning battles. Tough isn't necessary, but it's incredibly beneficial for your Rogue. You gain a significant number of extra hit points, which greatly increases your survivability. Combined with the natural evasiveness of the Rogue, you become quite difficult to take down.
Mobile
If you want a more hit-and-run-style Rogue, Mobile is an excellent choice. You can swiftly move into range to deliver devastating attacks, then retreat without consequence. It also aids in ranged duels, allowing you to snipe an enemy and then slip back out of their range.
Alert
Being surprised is a mechanic you certainly want to avoid as a Rogue. An ambush could lead to a quick downfall, especially without feats like Tough to bolster your defenses. The Alert feat helps keep your Rogue safer, maintaining their valuable damage per second. The bonus to initiative is also highly beneficial in general.
Dungeon Delver
Baldur's Gate 3 is filled with traps, locked doors, and chests. Using the Dungeon Delver perk on your Rogue, who is already adept at handling these challenges, makes life much easier. You'll be able to detect most traps before triggering them, disable them with ease, and unlock most doors and chests without breaking a sweat. It's a highly beneficial quality-of-life feat for the Rogue outside of combat.
Crossbow Expert
Crossbow Expert is my favorite Rogue feat. If you haven't tried using a crossbow yet in Baldur's Gate 3, you're missing out. Equip your Rogue with a good crossbow and take this feat for a truly devastating damage dealer. With Crossbow Expert, you don't have to worry about melee combat at all. You'll be able to use your crossbow's sneak attack at close range, and your sneak attacks will deal more damage at all ranges. Plus, it feels incredibly thematic to be a crossbow-wielding Rogue.
Lucky
Lucky is a versatile feat that's beneficial for any class and build in BG3. You have three Luck Points, which you can use to gain advantage on Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, or Saving Throws, increasing your chances of success. Additionally, you can use a Luck Point to force an enemy to reroll their attack, potentially turning a hit into a miss. Since these points refresh after each Long Rest, you don't need to be conservative with their use.
Savage Attacker
If you're going for a melee build, Savage Attacker is a must-have feat. When you make a melee attack with this feat, you roll the damage dice twice and use the higher result. Combined with your Rogue's sneak attacks, you'll be able to deal significant damage and maintain that output even when you can't use a sneak attack.
That's it for the best feats to transform your Baldur's Gate 3 Rogue into a formidable force, capable of dealing as much damage as they can absorb (which is quite a lot). If you have a different loadout, I'd love to hear about it.
