After a small leak last week, EA has officially announced their latest venture into the Star Wars universe with the game titled Star Wars: Zero Company. This exciting new project is being crafted by the newly-formed strategy game studio, Bit Reactor, with collaborative support from Lucasfilm Games and Respawn.
While details are still scarce, we do know that Star Wars: Zero Company will be a "single-player turn-based tactics game". Fans won't have to wait long for more information, as EA plans to unveil a first look at the game on April 19 during Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Bit Reactor, founded in 2022, is comprised of industry veterans from acclaimed titles like XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online. This studio has been known to be working on a Star Wars project alongside Respawn, and now, we're finally getting some concrete details about Zero Company.
The extent of Respawn's involvement remains somewhat ambiguous. The studio has faced significant challenges recently, including the cancellation of its own Star Wars FPS project a year ago, coupled with mass layoffs at EA, and the termination of another multiplayer FPS project just last month.
For those eager to learn more, EA will be hosting a live panel at Star Wars Celebration on Saturday, April 19 at 4:30pm local time in Japan. For fans in the U.S., that translates to a challenging 12:30am PT and 3:30am ET, so be sure to set your alarms accordingly.
