Sims Mastermind's Proxi Reveals New Details

Will Wright's New AI-Powered Life Sim, Proxi, Delves into the World of Personal Memories

The creator of The Sims, Will Wright, recently offered a deeper look into his upcoming AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. Initially unveiled in 2018, Proxi has remained relatively mysterious until a recent teaser. Now, thanks to Wright's appearance, we have a clearer picture of this unique title developed by Gallium Studio.

The livestream, part of BreakthroughT1D's Dev Diaries series, focused on game development and the developers' personal connections (where applicable). Wright, renowned for his influential simulation games, discussed Proxi's core concept: an AI-driven life sim built directly from players' memories.

Players input their personal memories as written paragraphs. The game then transforms these memories into animated scenes, editable using in-game assets for increased realism. Each added memory ("mem") trains the game's AI, populating the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment of hexagons.

This mind world expands with the addition of Proxies, representing friends and family. Memories are arranged chronologically and linked to Proxies, reflecting the context and individuals involved. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal experience. He explained the game's design philosophy, stating that focusing on the player's own experiences is key to engagement. The goal is to create "magical connections with memories, bringing them to life."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
