My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I'm always deeply engaged when a new set hits the scene, playing avidly while there are Emblems to earn after securing around 40 wins. Once that's done, my routine shifts to logging in daily, opening my packs, and indulging in a Wonder Pick just for the fun of it, before moving on until the next day. This cycle is set to kick off again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
This expansion will enrich the TCG Pocket with 110 new cards, featuring a diverse range of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and the stunning art cards that fans have grown to adore. The highlight, as hinted by the expansion's name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. These are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite creatures; for instance, you'll see Lucario in yellow instead of its usual blue, and Pachirisu with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can watch below, offers just a glimpse of what to expect, but let's delve into the details. A new Shiny Charizard Ex is coming with an impressive 180 HP and an attack called Steam Artillery that deals a hefty 150 damage. The caveat? It requires five energy cards. Fortunately, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards at once, making it a bit more manageable.
Another noteworthy addition is Lucario Ex. Previously playing a more supportive role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is now primed for direct combat. While its 150 HP isn't particularly groundbreaking, its Aura Sphere attack is noteworthy. For just three Fighting Energy, it inflicts 100 damage on the active Pokemon and an additional 30 on one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not game-changers, are certainly exciting. Shiny Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way, each boasting a fabulous new look. Additionally, there's a beautifully crafted Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
