A former Respawn Entertainment employee revealed on their LinkedIn profile that an unannounced project has been cancelled after several years in development. No official reason for the cancellation has been given.
Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported the project wasn't a mainline Titanfall entry, confirming it wasn't Titanfall 3. Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team" of multiplayer shooter specialists for its development.
This isn't the first Respawn project to be cancelled. An arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends was also shut down last year.
The Titanfall series is celebrated for its unique blend of fast-paced action and mech combat, allowing players to fight as agile pilots or powerful Titans. Since the 2014 release of the first game, the franchise has earned a strong following thanks to its innovative gameplay combining parkour and dynamic team battles.
Respawn is currently concentrating on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the third installment in the Jedi series, and a new Star Wars strategy game developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
