Pokémon GO's 8th Anniversary is just around the corner, and the festivities are set to start on Friday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. and will continue through to Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. Get ready for an exciting lineup of new Pokémon debuts, event bonuses, and plenty of opportunities to score big in raids and trades.
What’s In Store!
Kicking things off, you'll encounter new Pokémon adorned in festive costumes. Keep an eye out for Grimer and Muk sporting party hats, and with a bit of luck, you might even stumble upon a Shiny Grimer! Meltan will also make a shiny return, but only if you use the Mystery Box during the event.
Throughout Pokémon GO's 8th Anniversary, your chances of becoming Lucky Friends and acquiring Lucky Pokémon through trades will be boosted. Friendship levels will increase more rapidly than usual when you open Gifts, trade Pokémon, or battle together. Plus, spinning a PokéStop with a Golden Lure Module might reward you with 8 or even 88 Gimmighoul Coins.
Special bonuses will be scattered throughout the event. From June 28th to 29th, enjoy half the Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in Incubators. From June 30th to July 1st, you'll earn double XP for every Pokémon you catch. And from July 2nd to July 3rd, double Stardust will be yours for each catch.
The excitement reaches one-star raids as well, where you'll have an increased chance of encountering shiny, festively dressed Pokémon. Event-themed field research tasks will lead to encounters with partner Pokémon such as Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, and others. Additionally, you'll earn Mega Energy rewards for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert.
Don't miss out on other events like Timed Research tasks and the Whispers in the Woods Masterwork Research, available for a small fee. For a complete list of paid events, visit the official website. You can also find some adorable stickers and a special Anniversary Box in the Pokémon GO web store, so be sure to check those out as well.
