People Can Fly, the renowned developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to work on a new game, codenamed Project Delta. According to a report from People Can Fly, Project Delta is set to be developed as a work-for-hire project, though specifics about the game remain under wraps.
The studio is juggling multiple projects, each with its own codename. Alongside Project Delta, they are working on Project Gemini in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw 30 developers laid off last year. They're also developing Project Echo with Krafton, Project Red (which appears to be another project with Sony), and the VR game, Project Bison. Just yesterday, People Can Fly announced that Project Bison would be their last venture into VR gaming.
In recent months, the studio has faced some challenges. Last December, they decided to suspend work on Project Victoria and scale down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they cancelled Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains busy with a total of eight known projects in development. This includes the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, though a release date for this title has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, their collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
