Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater maintains the suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the infamous Peep Demo Theatre, as confirmed by an age rating. Although developer Konami has not officially verified the retention of this controversial content, the U.S. classification board, the ESRB, has rated this stealth action game as Mature 17+. This rating is attributed to its depiction of realistic gunfire, cries of pain, bloody combat, and "suggestive/sexual content."
In addition to detailing the game's realistic combat and violence, the ESRB reports further instances of violence and blood in cutscenes: a restrained character being beaten and electrocuted, a character shot in the eye, and another character, engulfed in flames, being shot multiple times.
The ESRB also highlights the game's "suggestive/sexual content," which includes scenes such as a man groping a woman's breasts, close-up camera angles showcasing deep cleavage, a character briefly groping a man's crotch, and the Peep Demo Theatre. This feature allows players to view cutscenes of a female character's body from a first-person perspective. The Peep Demo Theater, an unlockable extra in the Subsistance and HD Collection versions of the original Metal Gear Solid 3, lets players move the camera and zoom in on Eva during a scene where she appears in her underwear. To unlock it, players must complete the game four times.
Konami has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28. A new teaser trailer not only confirmed this release date but also revealed the return of the Snake vs. Monkey minigame.
In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, IGN described the game as "more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been." The preview highlighted the new first-person perspective for Snake, describing it as "an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater received an impressive score of 9.6 from us.
