Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's release date was officially confirmed during Sony's State of Play 2025 presentation, alongside a new trailer. The August 28, 2025 release date, which leaked last week via the PlayStation Store along with a trailer, was officially validated.
An intriguing Ape Escape collaboration was also teased, with the cryptic message "And More" hinting at further exciting crossovers to come. This first crossover appears to reference the original Metal Gear Solid 3's monkey minigame, where Snake used stun grenades and his unique "Monkey Shaker" gun.
While boasting a new first-person perspective, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater largely appears to be a faithful recreation of its predecessor. As IGN noted in its preview, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault."For a comprehensive overview of all the announcements from State of Play 2025, and a glimpse into PlayStation 5's future, be sure to check out IGN's roundup.
