Marvel Snap, developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025. This ban, impacting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left many players frustrated, particularly due to the lack of prior warning. While players are experiencing authorization problems and expressing their discontent, the game remains accessible on Steam for PC users.
Second Dinner has publicly acknowledged the situation, assuring players via Platform X that they are actively working to reinstate the game: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.” The abrupt removal is especially concerning given that players continued making in-app purchases unaware of the impending ban.
Interestingly, the impact wasn't uniform across all ByteDance titles. While Marvel Snap was affected, other games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain unaffected.
Recent game updates included the addition of Moonstone, a powerful Ongoing card. Moonstone (4/6) uniquely copies the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane. This ability, combined with the existing pool of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, creates a significant meta shift. Unlike many low-cost cards that primarily boost power, Moonstone rapidly gains power due to her ability to passively acquire these effects.
