In Hyper Light Breaker, players will encounter various resources, but none are as coveted as Golden Rations. These elusive items are essential for some of the game's most crucial upgrades.
While Hyper Light Breaker doesn't provide detailed information on materials and resources, players can still learn the ropes through exploration. If you're looking to skip the trial-and-error phase, here's a comprehensive guide on how to reliably obtain Golden Rations.
Where to Get Golden Rations
In the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, you can acquire Golden Rations through two primary methods: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources for purchasing items or unlocking upgrades, and occasionally, you'll find Golden Rations. You'll recognize a chest with Golden Rations by the distinctive Golden Ration icon hovering above it.
Areas marked with Prisms (denoted by a golden diamond icon on the map) are hotspots for finding chests with Golden Rations.
The second method involves cycle resets. A cycle corresponds to each instance of the Overgrowth, resetting when your Rez count depletes. Upon exhausting your revives, you can choose to retry the map in exchange for resources or reset the cycle entirely at the Cursed Outpost. After a cycle reset, you'll be scored, and ranking up can reward you with Golden Rations.
What are Golden Rations For?
Golden Rations are pivotal for advancing in Hyper Light Breaker. They are primarily used at the home base to unlock permanent upgrades for your characters or new services from vendors.
Moreover, Golden Rations can unlock Sycoms, which define your Breaker's stats and core passive abilities. Sycoms play a crucial role in shaping your Breaker's playstyle, making them highly valuable.
Upon earning your first Golden Ration, we highly recommend investing in the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can significantly ease future runs, especially given the game's challenging combat dynamics.
If you die during a run, you'll retain any resources you've collected. However, your weapons, amps, and perks will sustain damage, risking permanent destruction.
