Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test: A 3-Hour Daily Limit
The upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign network test will impose a three-hour daily playtime restriction on participants. This limited access test, running from February 14th to 17th, is exclusively available to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 players. Applications are now open.
FromSoftware's Elden Ring, released in 2022, achieved phenomenal success, setting new standards for open-world RPGs. The anticipation surrounding its spin-off, Nightreign, is immense, exceeding even the initial Elden Ring hype. This is fueled by the game's unique blend of familiar FromSoftware gameplay and innovative roguelike elements, centered around cooperative play and procedurally generated encounters.
Nightreign's network test, announced on January 10th, serves as a crucial technical verification phase. The official website explains its purpose as a large-scale network load test to assess online systems before the full release. This announcement surprised many, as FromSoftware previously stated no sequel or further DLC was planned after the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Nightreign's reveal at The Game Awards 2024, however, signaled a significant departure from that statement.
While building upon Elden Ring's foundation, Nightreign represents a notable shift in FromSoftware's design approach. The focus on co-op and roguelike elements, including randomized encounters, sets it apart. Although a release date remains unannounced, the network test strongly suggests further news is imminent. PC players are excluded from the network test but can expect Nightreign's eventual release on their platform.
