Netflix has thrilled fans by announcing the premiere date for the anime adaptation of Devil May Cry and releasing an electrifying opening trailer. The trailer, set against the iconic "Rollin'" track by nu-metal legends Limp Bizkit, showcases dynamic scenes featuring young Dante, Lady, and White Rabbit, packed with nods to the beloved game series.
Showrunner Adi Shankar has shared his vision for the anime's future, revealing that the series is set in the late 90s to early 2000s. He believes the soundtrack perfectly captures the era's spirit. Alongside Limp Bizkit, the series will feature other iconic tracks from the time, as well as a reimagined game soundtrack by the synthwave duo Power Glove.
Shankar also hinted at the series' longevity, stating that future seasons will vary in visual style and soundtrack to reflect the diversity of the Devil May Cry games. This suggests that the anime is planned to extend beyond a single season.
While plot specifics remain under wraps, the first season will draw from the manga Code 1: Dante (Devil May Cry 3). It follows a young demon hunter, Dante, as he investigates a child's disappearance, leading him to confront his past, family, and the legacy of his demon father, Sparda.
The first season will comprise 8 episodes and is scheduled to premiere on April 3, 2025. Fans of the Devil May Cry series can look forward to an immersive experience that honors the original games while exploring new narrative depths.
