If you're diving into the challenging world of The First Berserker: Khazan, a game firmly entrenched in the Soulslike genre, you'll quickly encounter the formidable Yetuga. This boss fight marks your first significant test, demanding a thorough understanding and application of the game's combat mechanics. Here's how you can conquer Yetuga and emerge victorious.
How To Beat Yetuga in The First Berserker: Khazan
Yetuga is an aggressive adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened, particularly at the end of the Mount Heinmach level. This boss can unleash both long and short-range attacks, including a leaping slam. To overcome this challenge, you'll need to master your dodges and parries to minimize damage.
Yetuga's arsenal includes:
- A two-hit combo starting with a left-handed smash downward followed by a right-handed uppercut.
- A four-hit combo with horizontal swipes using either its left or right arm.
- A downward smash with both arms.
- A leaping single-handed smash.
- A jumping grab.
- A charge.
As you engage in combat, you'll learn Yetuga's attack patterns, allowing you to strike effectively between its assaults. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, will inflict more Stamina damage on the boss. Utilize Yetuga's aggressive nature to your advantage. For instance, dodging its charge and letting it crash into a wall will leave it vulnerable, giving you a brief window to attack. This is your chance to break the ice spikes on its back, which will reduce its attack potency.
In the second phase, you can parry all attacks except the grab, conserving your Stamina. Maintain relentless pressure to push Yetuga into its next stage. When it roars and powers up, create some distance. It will then grab a giant rock to smash towards you; dodge or parry at the right moment to avoid damage. Be wary of its frost breath, which creates ice spikes; either move away or parry when it reaches you. Seize opportunities to use Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga is exhausted, unleash a Brutal Attack for significant damage, hastening its defeat.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll be rewarded with 4,800 Lacrima, along with Frozen Mountain gear items and the Necklace of Resolve.
