If you're in the market for a top-tier gaming PC, you might be thrilled to learn that you can snag a high-end prebuilt system at a significant discount. Currently, Dell is slashing prices on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing it down to just $2,899.99 after a hefty $1,000 instant discount. This is a rare opportunity to get an RTX 4090-powered PC for under $3,000, a price point we haven't seen in months. With standalone RTX 4090 graphics cards creeping back up to around $2,000 from reputable sellers, building your own PC might not be as economical as you think. Plus, opting for a prebuilt system like this comes with the added benefit of a comprehensive warranty.

$3,699.99 save 22% $2,899.99 at Alienware
This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC boasts an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a spacious 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands out as the premier Intel gaming CPU available today, excelling not only in gaming but also in productivity tasks. Although this chip can run hot, Alienware ensures its cool performance with a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a reliable 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The GeForce RTX 4090 is currently the most powerful GPU on the market, outpacing all other cards from NVIDIA and AMD. In his review, Chris Coke praised the RTX 4090, stating, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can enjoy any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high frame rates even in the most demanding new titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. It's also the top choice for consumer AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.
A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs
NVIDIA's next generation of GPUs, the RTX 5000 series, is set to debut at the end of January. While the RTX 5090 is expected to be more powerful, it will also command a higher price, with the Founder's Edition launching at $2,000. Availability could be a challenge at launch. The RTX 5080 will retail at $999, but it may also face supply constraints. Our team plans to benchmark these cards soon, but they will feature less VRAM than the RTX 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and likely won't dethrone the 4090 as the leading high-end GPU.
A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis
The Alienware Aurora R16 represents the brand's 2024 desktop design, boasting a 40% smaller volume than its predecessors. Its airflow system is straightforward and effective, drawing air through side intake vents over the GPU area and a 120mm front fan, and expelling it via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator of the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. While some configurations may not include liquid cooling, our recommendations typically favor those that do, as Alienware's liquid cooling significantly outperforms their air cooling options and justifies the extra cost. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in design and appearance.
