Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month: GTA III and GTA Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games temporarily, and these titles' licenses are expiring on December 13th. A "Leaving Soon" tag will alert players before their removal.
Why are these GTA games leaving Netflix?
The initial 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is ending. After December 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to GTA III and Vice City. San Andreas, however, remains on the platform.
What happens next?
Fans who haven't finished these games can purchase them individually or as part of a trilogy bundle on the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or the complete trilogy is $11.99.
Unlike previous removals from Netflix Games, this time, users are receiving advance notice. Interestingly, this occurs despite Netflix's subscriber growth in 2023 being partly attributed to the GTA trilogy.
Rumors suggest that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform.
