The stress test for the potentially final major update, Patch 8, of Baldur's Gate III is now underway. Early access to the patch was inadvertently granted to some Sony console players, but for those not keen on participating in the testing phase, the developers suggest reinstalling the game to revert to the previous version.
Patch 8 introduces a significant feature: crossplay, which enables seamless gaming experiences across different platforms. Players on consoles and PC can now enjoy the game together, provided they have a linked Larian account. This cross-platform functionality extends to modded gameplay as well, but with specific requirements. All mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby should not exceed a double-digit number of mods.
In terms of multiplayer enhancements, Patch 8 is testing split-screen co-op on the Xbox Series S. This feature, previously unavailable on the less powerful console, is a welcome addition for Xbox Series S users, enhancing their gaming experience.
Additional features in Patch 8 include a highly customizable photo mode and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, adding depth and variety to the gameplay. Larian Studios has also worked on bug fixes and game rebalancing, although some issues persist. A comprehensive list of changes for the stress test can be found on the game's official page.
