Ubisoft's latest stealth-action open-world adventure, Assassin's Creed Shadows, is finally here! But how does it stack up against the extensive Assassin's Creed saga? We're inviting you to weigh in. While the series boasts over 30 titles, this ranking focuses solely on the mainline entries, excluding spin-offs, mobile games, VR experiences, and side-scrollers like Bloodlines and Liberation.
The journey began in 2007 with Desmond Miles's Animus adventures as Altaïr. Now, 18 years later, Assassin's Creed Shadows transports players to 16th-century Japan, guiding them through the stories of Naoe and Yasuke. This latest installment marks the 14th core game, and I've created an IGN-style tier list reflecting my personal enjoyment. Check it out:
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remains my personal favorite, a captivating blend of island exploration, naval combat, and memorable characters. It shares the S-tier with Assassin's Creed II, the game that propelled the franchise to stardom. Valhalla secures a spot in the A-tier—a choice that might surprise some, but I thoroughly enjoyed its Viking-inspired combat and the addictive Orlog minigame. Unity also earns an A-tier ranking; its recreation of revolutionary-era Paris remains visually stunning a decade later.
Disagree? Feel Valhalla is overly ambitious? Think Assassin's Creed II is overrated? Create your own tier list below and compare your rankings (S, A, B, C, and D tiers) with the entire IGN community!
