Alan Wake 2 won't be sold in Steam, Tim Sweeney confirmed

A Reddit user recently received a terse response from Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney regarding the availability of Remedy's Alan Wake 2 on Steam. The user's simple inquiry about a Steam release date was met with a blunt "no," leaving them to consider purchasing the game on Xbox instead.

This situation highlights the unique nature of Alan Wake 2's exclusivity. Unlike many Epic Games Store exclusives, Epic Games not only published the title but also co-financed its development with Remedy. While Remedy reported that Alan Wake 2's sales met expectations and they were pleased with the collaboration, they've since announced that future games will be self-published, opening the door for releases on platforms like Steam. Interestingly, it's also been revealed that the game hasn't yet turned a profit, over a year after its release.
