Plunderstorm Returns to World of Warcraft with Enhanced Features and Rewards
World of Warcraft's pirate-themed battle royale, Plunderstorm, has returned, bringing exciting new features and quality-of-life improvements. While the end date remains unannounced, players can anticipate at least a month of plundering in the Arathi Highlands.
This iteration boasts significant updates. Non-elite enemies now respawn, offering a continuous stream of loot. Fast travel horses expedite traversal across the map, aiding in the search for chests, elite enemies, and opponents. A new map feature displays zone threat levels based on combat frequency, and players can even select their starting deployment zone.
New Plunderstorm Features:
- Revamped battlefield with new points of interest.
- Respawning non-elite enemies.
- Fast travel horses.
- Zone threat indicators on the map.
- Selectable deployment zones.
- Practice Lobby for ability testing, keybinding adjustments, and socialization.
- Plunderstore for acquiring new and returning rewards, accessible from the Practice Lobby, login screen, and the retail WoW PvP interface.
- Access to Plunderstorm while playing on World of Warcraft: The War Within characters.
New Abilities:
- Offensive:
- Aura of Zealotry: Passively increases allied movement speed. Casting consecrates the ground, periodically damaging enemies and granting enhanced movement speed and melee attack boosts within the consecrated area.
- Celestial Barrage: Summons a barrage of moonbeams to damage enemies, with an empowerable option for increased range.
- Utility:
- Call Galefeather: Summons Galefeather to knock back enemies with strong winds.
- Void Tear: Creates a Void mark. Recasting instantly teleports the player to the mark, damaging and slowing nearby enemies. The recast is instantaneous during any spell cast.
Ability Balance Changes: Several existing spells have received cooldown adjustments (Earthbreaker reduced, Slicing Winds increased, Star Bomb reduced, Storm Archon reduced, Toxic Smackerel increased).
The Plunderstore offers a centralized location for obtaining Plunderstorm rewards. A Practice Lobby provides a safe space to experiment with abilities, customize keybindings, and interact with other players.
Notably absent is the three-person Trios mode from the previous iteration. The reason for its omission remains unclear, but players hope for its return before Plunderstorm's departure.
