Smite 2's Open Beta Launches with Aladdin and More!
Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, has officially launched its free-to-play open beta across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update.
A year in the making, Smite 2 leverages Unreal Engine 5 to deliver enhanced visuals and refined combat mechanics. The game retains the core 5v5 gameplay of its predecessor, but introduces a revamped item shop offering greater flexibility. The open beta marks the culmination of a closed alpha phase, making the game accessible to all players.
This open beta introduces a wealth of new content, headlined by the addition of Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Aladdin boasts unique abilities, including wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic tied to his companion. His ultimate ability involves capturing enemies for a 1v1 duel.
Key additions in the Smite 2 open beta:
- Five new gods: Aladdin, Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr.
- Return of the beloved 3v3 Joust mode.
- A fresh Arthurian-themed map.
- Conquest map updates.
- Alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- New "Aspects" – optional enhancements for certain gods.
The open beta also features improvements to the Conquest map and an alpha version of the Assault game mode. Furthermore, players can now utilize "Aspects," optional enhancements that add new layers of strategic depth to select gods.
Titan Forge Games has expressed confidence in Smite 2's superiority over its predecessor, crediting player feedback from the closed alpha for significant improvements. The developers have also promised ambitious new content releases slated for 2025.
While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to the possibility of a future release on the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck can jump into the free open beta and experience the evolution of Smite.
