Crunchyroll's mobile release of the rhythm roguelike, Crypt of the NecroDancer, brings the critically acclaimed beat-matching adventure to Android devices. Now simply titled "Crunchyroll: NecroDancer," this enhanced mobile port offers a wealth of content.
Originally launched on PC in 2015, and previously available on iOS and Android, this version boasts significant additions. Brace Yourself Games' creation challenges players to navigate procedurally generated dungeons, moving and attacking in time with Danny Baranowsky's infectious soundtrack. Miss a beat, and it's game over.
Gameplay and Story:
Players control Cadence, a treasure hunter's daughter, searching for her missing parent within a rhythmically-charged crypt. The roguelike nature ensures each playthrough is unique. 15 playable characters, each with distinct styles, add replayability. Combat involves facing off against musically-inclined enemies, ranging from dancing skeletons to hip-hop dragons.
Beyond a Simple Port:
This isn't just a straightforward port. Crunchyroll and the developers have included remixes, new content, and even Danganronpa character skins, catering to anime fans. Cross-platform multiplayer and mod support further enhance the experience. Future DLC featuring Hatsune Miku and the Synchrony expansion is also planned for later this year.
Available now on the Google Play Store for Crunchyroll subscribers, Crypt of the NecroDancer offers a compelling blend of rhythm and roguelike gameplay. Check it out! For more gaming news, see our upcoming coverage of the Star Trek Lower Decks x Doctor Who crossover.
