Palworld PlayStation 5 Port in Japan Indefinitely DelayedPalworld PlayStation Launch Announced at State of Play
However, not all PlayStation users globally will access the game immediately. The Palworld PS5 version launched for most, but not Japan—where Nintendo and Pokémon filed a suit against Pocketpair. Palworld's PS5 release paused in the country after Nintendo and Pokémon filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Palworld developer Pocketpair.
Palworld PS5 Japan Release Date Still Undecided
Following Sony's announcement, Palworld's Japanese Twitter (X) account updated on the PS5 version's release. "As announced on the official PlayStation State of Play, the PS5 version of 'Palworld' launched today in 68 countries and regions globally," Palworld announced.
The Palworld team apologized to Japanese PlayStation players for the game's unavailability. They confirmed a release date for Japan remains undecided. "The Japan release date is undetermined. We apologize to Japanese players anticipating 'Palworld,' but we'll strive to deliver the game to all PS5 users ASAP."
Pocketpair didn't explain the indefinite delay in that region, but it's presumed due to the ongoing legal action in Japan between Nintendo, Pokémon, and Palworld regarding patent infringement. Last week, Nintendo announced a Tokyo Court case, seeking an injunction and damages against Palworld. A granted injunction could halt Pocketpair's Palworld operations, potentially removing the game entirely.
