Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time producing a LEGO Game Boy set! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release. The news has generated considerable online buzz, with many playfully mistaking the announcement for the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 reveal.
While the Switch 2 remains shrouded in mystery, Nintendo President Furukawa's May 7, 2024 statement promises an announcement before the end of their fiscal year (March). Patience is key for eager fans.
Pricing details for the LEGO Game Boy are yet to be revealed, but further information is expected in the coming weeks or months.
A Legacy of LEGO-Nintendo Collaborations
This isn't Nintendo's first foray into the LEGO world. Previous collaborations have featured beloved characters from franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
Last May 2024 saw the release of a 2,500-piece LEGO set depicting the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, complete with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This set retails for $299.99 USD.
Following closely in July 2024, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario riding Yoshi was launched, utilizing a unique crank mechanism to animate Yoshi's leg. This set is priced at $129.99 USD.
