Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following reports that American accessory maker Genki showcased a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, Nintendo has issued a statement. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are unofficial. Nintendo explicitly stated that Genki's purported Switch 2 hardware was not provided by them.
Genki, known for its gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting what it claimed was a 3D-printed model of the Switch 2. They further alleged possession of a functional Switch 2 unit and even a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, showcasing a detailed animated mockup.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo maintains radio silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only promising an official announcement soon. The only confirmed feature is backwards compatibility with existing Switch games. Given Genki's assertions, Nintendo's official reveal of the Switch 2 may be imminent.
