Neymar's New Venture: Leading Furia in the Kings League

Football superstar Neymar Jr. has taken on a new role as president of Furia's media football team, marking a significant step into the world of esports. Following a recent return to Santos FC and a brief stint with Al-Hilal, Neymar joined Brazil's leading esports organization, Furia, on February 19th. His primary focus will be leading Furia in the upcoming season of the Kings League, a unique gaming tournament blending traditional sports and esports.

Neymar's Role and the Kings League Format

Neymar expressed his long-standing admiration for Furia, stating his intention to actively participate whenever his schedule permits. His immediate priority is assembling Furia's roster for the Kings League draft. This 7v7 tournament features 10 teams, each with 13 players. Team presidents select 10 players from a pool of 222 participants. The "president penalty" rule adds an exciting twist, allowing Neymar to participate in matches.

The Kings League, co-founded by Gerard Piqué and streamer Ibai Llanos, has expanded globally since its 2022 launch in Spain. The Brazilian edition, taking place in São Paulo from March to April, will feature prominent teams like Fluxo and Loud, along with a team led by streamer Gaules. The draft will be broadcast live on February 24th. The league's unique gameplay includes features like "double goal" bonuses and temporary player removals.
