League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes Based on Player Feedback
Responding to significant player feedback, Riot Games is reinstating Hextech Chests in League of Legends. A developer update, released February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a YouTube video, detailed the upcoming changes. Riot acknowledged previous updates missed the mark, stating a commitment to addressing player concerns.
The return of Hextech Chests is a direct response to player requests. Riot admitted they underestimated the importance of chests to player reward systems. Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act: 8 from the free pass and 2 via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Adjustments Based on Feedback
The release of the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been postponed. Riot aims to refine the skin to better meet player expectations. This delay also impacts the planned release schedule for Exalted skins throughout the year.
In response to feedback regarding Mythic Essence availability in the paid pass, Riot will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence. They also cited concerns about the number of champions per seasonal theme.
Addressing player accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50%, effective with patch 25.05.
Clash, previously scheduled for less frequent appearances, will resume its monthly schedule, with an ARURF event in March and a standard SR Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback. Your Shop is scheduled for patch 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot emphasized their ongoing commitment to player feedback, highlighting these changes as a crucial step in continuous improvement. They intend to monitor player response and make further adjustments as needed. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. For the latest news, visit our League of Legends page.
