Cooking and Eating Meals in Monster Hunter Wilds
Forget relying on helpful Palicos; in Wilds, you're the chef! You have two convenient cooking options:
-
Your Tent: Before embarking on a quest, utilize your tent's BBQ menu (accessed via L1 or R1). Select "Grill a Meal" to begin cooking.
-
Portable BBQ Grill: Alternatively, equip the Portable BBQ Grill from your inventory and press the square button to activate it.
Choosing Your Meals
The cooking menu offers three meal types:
-
Recommended Meals: These are simple, using a Ration and any additional ingredients you possess. A Ration-only meal provides a 30-minute buff (+50 Health, +150 Stamina, +2 Attack). Adding ingredients extends this buff by 20 minutes. This is a solid baseline for hunt preparation.
-
Custom Meals: For a tailored experience, select the custom meal option. You choose one Ration (meat, fish, or vegetables, each offering different buffs like increased attack or elemental resistance), one ingredient (providing additional buffs such as improved gathering or damage reduction), and a finishing touch.
Once your meal is prepared, your Hunter automatically consumes it, readying you for the hunt.
