Atelier Resleriana's End: A Year-Long Journey Concludes
Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. All services will cease on March 28th, with in-app purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the shutdown, allowing players to enjoy the remaining time.
The developers cited an inability to maintain their initially set standards as the reason for closure. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, they concluded that continued operation wasn't feasible. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but further purchases are no longer possible.
This news may not be entirely unexpected for many players. The highly competitive gacha market makes it challenging for new titles to gain traction. While Atelier Resleriana presented promising concepts, it faced several significant hurdles.
Criticism centered around gacha rates and banner probabilities, hindering player progression. The alchemy system, a cornerstone of the Atelier franchise, failed to deliver the expected level of creative engagement. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the compelling factor needed to compete effectively with established rivals.
The game faced considerable challenges from its launch, and its eventual closure might have been predictable. While community requests for an offline version are prevalent on Twitter and Reddit, the likelihood of this happening remains low. Players are encouraged to maximize their remaining time with this turn-based RPG before its final curtain call.
