Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4
A recent leak suggests that Wriothesley, the Cryo Catalyst character, may finally receive his rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, over a year after his initial release. This news comes as a potential relief to players, given the game's notorious character rerun scheduling challenges.
With a roster exceeding 90 playable characters, maintaining a fair rerun system is proving difficult for Genshin Impact. Even assuming a single 5-star character release per patch, the limited number of Event Banner slots creates a significant backlog. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this, it's viewed by many as a temporary solution rather than a long-term fix. Shenhe's extended wait time (over 600 days) before her rerun highlights this ongoing issue. Until triple banners become a reality, extended waits between character reruns are likely to persist.
Wriothesley's case exemplifies this problem. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and Burnmelt team synergy make him highly sought-after, yet his absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has been frustrating for many. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, suggests this will change with Version 5.4.
Wriothesley's Potential Return in Version 5.4
It's crucial to approach this leak with caution, as Flying Flame's track record is inconsistent. While they correctly predicted the new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3, other leaks have proven inaccurate. However, the recent Spiral Abyss buff, which benefits Wriothesley's playstyle, lends some credibility to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on the Event Banners, the remaining 5-star slot might be filled by either Furina or Venti, given the cyclical rerun pattern for Archon characters. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025.
