World of Warcraft China is adding two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts, unavailable outside China, are re-imagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar. This follows the successful re-establishment of the NetEase and Blizzard partnership, bringing games like World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to China. Previous celebrations included a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the Xiao Liu pet.
These new mounts, launching January 15th, will be obtainable through separate promotions and are usable in both modern and Classic WoW.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk closely resembles the Pureblood Fire Hawk (a rare Ragnaros drop), but features auspicious clouds within its wings while flying. These clouds, or xiangyun, symbolize peace, immortality, and good fortune in Chinese culture. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded version of the Ashes of Al'ar (from Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade), boasts a stylish black saddle and flavor text referencing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is a reward from the "Treasure Workshop" event (details pending). The Golden Ashes of Al'ar is obtained from Landro's Loot Box (¥200, approximately $27), containing one of eight items, including other coveted prizes like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger (a rare mount from the discontinued TCG). Team purchases offer bonus crates based on spending milestones.
Currently, there's no indication of an international release for these mounts, leaving players outside China to admire them from afar.
