Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Mobile RPG Beta Test Announced
Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, has unveiled a new gameplay trailer and details about its closed beta test. The game, set during the show's fourth season, promises engaging combat and a rich narrative experience.
The closed beta, running January 16-22, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions, offers fans early access to the game's class-based progression system, featuring iconic characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and Drogon. Players can expect "fully manual" controls and an original storyline centered around a new character from House Tyre in the North.
Initially announced in November 2024 and further highlighted at The Game Awards, Kingsroad boasts impressive graphics and "raw, aggressive, and destructive" combat. Netmarble, known for titles like Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, aims to deliver a compelling story leveraging the rich lore and characters established by George R.R. Martin and HBO's adaptation.
The recently released trailer showcases the game's core mechanics, including class-based progression (knight or assassin) with fully manual controls. The inclusion of popular characters and a fresh narrative arc positions Kingsroad as a potentially significant addition to the mobile gaming landscape. The beta test will be accessible via the game's official website. A full launch is planned for later this year.
The game's arrival provides a timely distraction for Game of Thrones fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of A Song of Ice and Fire, The Winds of Winter. While the book's release faces delays, Kingsroad, along with other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3, offers fans a continued immersion in the world of Westeros.
